Monday Reflection | Finding those pockets of time for yourself

I looked over my calendar for the week and instantly felt a sense of dread. But I have to remember that even though the calendar looks packed, there are so many moments in between the work and activities that will be slow and quiet.

There’s those ten minutes after school when the kids are having a snack that I often sit outside (away from the chatter) with a glass of wine and just chill out in silence.

There’s the impromptu play dates that end up occupying my little guy for enough time to allow me to work on personal photos, do some online shopping, or do a quick tidy of the house.

Some nights he gets invited to a friend’s house for dinner and I end up not having to worry about cooking and instead have some instant ramen for myself (my guilty pleasure).

And my favourite time is before bed, when we all snuggle up together in bed and talk about our day. Sometimes this takes ten minutes, sometimes up to a half hour. It’s our way of winding down and taking a moment to listen to one another, share things on our minds, and give each other our undivided attention.

However full the day looks on paper, there are always these little pockets of time throughout the day. I look forward to them.

Where and when do you find your pockets of time during the day?
