When to book your outdoor Toronto photoshoot
As Canadians, we know how to get outside and enjoy the warm weather when it arrives! And when it comes to booking a Toronto family photoshoot, the moment the snow starts to melt is usually when I start getting an influx of inquiries for summer and fall family photoshoots.
Perfect for young kids
Outdoor sessions are perfect for families with kids. During an outdoor session, kids can run around, play, and be their natural selves. I encourage families to bring some favourite outdoor toys (e.g. balls, kites, skipping ropes) so that I can capture you all having fun together!
Location considerations
When booking a family photoshoot outdoors, I’m happy to take suggestions for locations if you have a place you love. If not, I do have my favourite spots around the city which I have selected because they are:
1. Quiet and secluded – important for avoiding background distractions.
2. Filled with a variety of interesting features close by – so we don’t have to walk far to get a different backdrop, and kids can explore without getting too far away from you.
3. Accessible by car with easy and ample parking nearby – no one needs the added stress of finding parking right before a family photoshoot, am I right?!
Time of day
The ideal timing for an outdoor session in Toronto is usually just after sunrise or just before sunset. This is when you’ll find the most soft, flattering, and beautiful light. And my favourite time of year for outdoor shoots? That would absolutely be mid-to-late September. It’s still warm outside but not super hot, and by then the sun is setting a bit earlier so a sunset session doesn’t have to take place too close to kids’ bedtimes!
