I recently wrote about the benefits of having your lifestyle newborn or family photoshoot take place in your home (see here if you missed it!). However, if your home is under renovation, you’re about to move, or you just don’t want to tidy anything, then a studio session might be just the perfect fit for you!
All of the images above were taken in my Toronto studio, located near Yonge and Lawrence. It is a cozy, all white space that is comfortable for small families of up to 4 or 5 people. I do all my first birthday “cake smash” sessions here, as well as many maternity, lifestyle newborn and family sessions. When visiting for the first time, many clients are surprised to learn that there is no natural light in the studio and that all portraits made here use exclusively artificial light sources!
Some of the conveniences and benefits of having your photoshoot at the studio include:
- The space and furniture (bed, sofa, stools, accent chairs) are all white, cream, and organic wood tones so that all portraits made here have a natural and timeless look.
- Moms and babies can take advantage of the studio wardrobe, where there are many flowy dresses they can try on and use as well as cute rompers, shirts, and accessories for babies.
- There is a washroom, space for changing your baby, and a very long client couch for napping on (I have had a handful of parents actually fall asleep during their session while I’m photographing their baby!)
- The bright space lends itself well to light, airy, ethereal portraits.
- I’m located in midtown Toronto just a couple of minutes from the main highway, so it’s an easy drive for most people in the GTA area.
- You don’t need to clean your house!
