It is such a great honour to be asked to create images of a baby’s first moments with their family and it is because of this that newborns are always prioritized on my calendar. Here are some frequently asked questions to help you in planning for your newborn session:
1. When is the best time to book a newborn session?
The ideal time frame for newborn portraiture is within the first month of life. Newborn sessions take place on weekday mornings and book up very quickly. I take on a limited number per month to ensure my clients have flexibility in dates and to minimize turnaround times for edited galleries. It is recommended to book at least 3 to 4 months in advance of your due date. If you have recently had your baby, don’t worry, you’re not too late! Please contact me as soon as possible and I can usually schedule you in.
2. What if my baby comes early or late?
I always leave a certain number of mornings free each month to accommodate changes in timing. Babies almost never come when they’re “supposed to”! I’ll be in touch close to your due date to check up on timing.
3. Do I have to wear anything special or buy outfits and/or props for my baby?
Once you have a spot on my calendar, I will send you a full guide on how to prepare for your session, including clothing recommendations for the whole family. For inspiration, you can view my clothing guides on Pinterest.
4. We just had our session and it was fabulous. How long will it take to be able to see my full gallery?
Because all images in client galleries are fully retouched and edited to showcase the images at their best, the average turnaround time from session to online gallery is about 3-4 weeks.
5. Can you come take photos in my home?
Of course! In-home sessions are more relaxed and I love being able to create authentic images of baby in her “natural environment”! We’ll most likely focus on areas of your home that have larger windows and soft, natural light.
